Ned M. Cleland, PhD, PE, one of our outstanding technical and thought leaders, recently co-authored a newly released article introducing the new ACI/PCI 319 code, Building Code Requirements for Structural Precast Concrete – Code and Commentary. Developed jointly by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), the code provides standards for the materials, design, and detailing of structural precast, prestressed concrete buildings.
As committee chair and leader of PCI’s Design Standard Committee since 2018, Ned was instrumental in the development of the new code. With expertise and unwavering support from all members of his committee, including our very own Al Baysek, PE, SE and Roksana (Roxy) Taghizadeh, PE, FPCI, the new code includes design requirements developed by PCI specifically for structural precast, prestressed concrete components and systems.
Huge congratulations to Ned, all members of the PCI Design Standard Committee, and ACI for continuing to push innovation forward.
