2025 Engineers Week

🎉 For Engineers Week, we are proud to recognize the passion and ingenuity of our structural engineering team.

Our next Engineer Spotlight is Chaitanya Date, Associate, Project Engineer. Out of our Houston Office, he champions our QA/QC process within the company. In addition to reviewing all structural models for consistency with AG&E requirements, Chaitanya coaches and mentors all engineers in modeling development and techniques.

One of the most memorable projects on Chaitanya’s resume is a 41-story, mixed-use PT concrete building located near New Delhi, India. The most challenging and coolest characteristic of this building is a large rectangular aperture measuring approximately 200 feet tall by 100 feet wide between levels 15 and 32 that divided the building above the podium into two distinct towers before reconnecting them between levels 32 and 41. This project is so significant to Chaitanya that he built a scaled Lego model of the building.

If he hadn’t become an engineer, he likely would have pursued a career in cricket. Having played at the club level for several years, his passion for the sport was shaped by growing up near Mumbai, a city rich with opportunities for aspiring cricket players. If not a cricket player on the field, he envisions himself being involved in the game in some capacity.

An avid traveler, Chaitanya has visited some of the most amazing places on Earth. Two unforgettable experiences stand out: exploring the archeological city of Petra in Jordan and hiking through the monumental statues of Easter Island in Chile. Next on his bucket list? A trip to Egypt to see the pyramids and all the incredible archaeological sites the country has to offer.

Something you may not know about Chaitanya is that he has a large collection of cacti and succulents at home. He is fascinated by the sheer diversity of these plants and finds inspiration in their ability to thrive in extreme conditions while producing spectacular blooms. Despite Houston’s humidity and unpredictable weather, he enjoys the challenge of growing them and learning more about them.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?
